Music: 50th Edition Of The Stresa Music Festival Is About To Begin

Edit Post
Did you happen to read the previous post, about how Stresa is listed in the top ten Italian VIP destinations according to Hotels.com? Maybe the Stresa Festival is one of the reasons why. Also sometimes called Settimane di Musicale, the festival will be opening for its 50 th year on Saturday, May 21.
In honor of the 50th year, let’s look back at the history of the Festival. It all began in 1961, thanks to a Venetian lawyer by the name of Italo Trentinaglia de Daverio. His father, Erardo Trentinaglia, was the general director of the Teatro alla Scala di Milano and the Teatro la Fenice in Venice , as well as a composer, and Italo, growing up in this environment, developed a great love for music.

Even I, who loves Stresa so much, was a bit surprised by this news item. Hotels.com, the leading online hotel reservation site, has Stresa placed at number 6 on its list of VIP Italian locations. What this list represents are those locations in Italy that not only show no signs of suffering due to the economy, but also have the most 'VIP' accommodations, that is, a high number of luxury hotel rooms, and therefore, a high average room rate. It's certainly true that Stresa has no shortage of world-famous hotels lining the lake: The Grand Hotel des Iles Borromees, the Hotel Regina, and Hotel Villa Aminta, to name a few.

Edit Post
I wish I were still in Stresa. If I were, this is where I would be next week. From May 7 to 15, food and wine connoisseurs will be in luck if they are in Milan. because it's time for Milano Food Week, seven days of events that promise to be a treat for all the senses. The focus of the expo is on eating well while eating healthy, something that to me seems to embody Italian cooking. Here are just a few of the planned highlights of the week:
Over 200 events all around the city,
Free cooking classes and special menus,
Food-inspired art exhibits,
A historic tour of Made in Italy food brands,
Food bloggers in the culinary culture and many web-celebrities,
A picnic in Milano's Parco Sempione.
